FTC PROJECT MISSION & BACKGROUND
The objective of the Jamaica Robotics Champs (RoboJam) is to enable 21st century-ready skills among students in the Jamaican school system. When achieved at scale the project is expected to lead the creation of a "maker class" in Jamaica which is able to drive innovation in the society. The project is based on the FTC Robotics Club established by JCOBA-NY in 2009 at Jamaica College.
RoboJam is the launch initiative of a wider Jamaican Workforce Development Program called Project TEAM Works which is endorsed by the Ministry of Education. The 12 year goal of TEAM Works is the upgrade of 30 thousand Jamaican youths with 21st century-ready skills by 2030.... 30-By-30 for short. TEAM Works was developed by the Jamaica College Old Boys Association of New York, Inc.
The 30-by-30 goal is aligned with GOJ's Vision 2030 plan - Jamaica's roadmap to developed nation status by that year

Conceived and guided by the Jamaica College Old Boys Association of New York (JCOBA_NY) - Robotics Jamaica (RoboJam™) is now a project of the Jamaica College Foundation .
The Foundation is the official licensee for FIRST Tech Challenge in Jamaica in an agreement brokered by JCOBA-NY.
The long term goal of RoboJam™ is to assist in upgrading the Jamaican workforce via STEM education in support of the government's Vision 2030 Development plan. This plan is Jamaica's roadmap to developed nation status.
RoboJam™ will build competence in robotics and related disciplines in Jamaican schools. Its programs are designed for students 6 - 18 years. Projects at the secondary school level are currently prioritized.
RoboJam™ features FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics competition at launch in 2019. As licensee of FIRST, the annual competition will form the Jamaica Robotics Championship. The event will be a national qualifier for the World Robotics Championship in the USA.
